6 Beauty Resolutions for 2018

6 Beauty Resolutions for 2018

Happy January and welcome to a new year!

You know what that means? It’s time to make new resolutions. Do you make them? I hope so because I love making resolutions and I make them every year. I don’t always accomplish them all, but I try my best. While I was thinking about my new year’s resolutions it got me to thinking about beauty resolutions.

Below are 6 beauty resolutions that I feel we should all make for 2018.

Wear Sunscreen

It’s never too late to jump on the sunscreen bandwagon. Sunscreen is one of the most important things you can do for your skin and is often the most neglected. Sunscreen protects your skin from harmful sun rays which damages and ages skin and can cause skin cancer. You should be applying it every morning. There are different ways you can accomplish this – you can put sunscreen directly onto freshly washed skin, use a moisturizer with sunscreen or a foundation with SPF. Many do all three. Starting today be sure to add a good sunscreen to your skincare regimen.

Take your makeup off each night before bed

I think we’re all guilty of going to bed with makeup on. I know that I’m totally guilty of this one. It’s hard when you are tired to get up the motivation to wash the day’s makeup off. One thing I’ve been doing lately is washing my face and completing my skincare routine right after dinner. Once dinner is done and the kitchen is cleaned up I’ll then go downstairs to my bathroom, change into my pj’s and wash my face. This way when it comes time for bed I don’t have to worry about taking the time to wash my face and I can just hit the sheets. This also works for brushing teeth.

Try something new

Raise your hand if you get stuck in makeup ruts? I know I do. It’s easy to get in the habit of using the same products and techniques over and over again. Now is a good time to try something new. Buy a new blush, try a new eye look, switch out your moisturizer. The goal is to break out of your rut and discover something new. Who knows you may even like it.

Drink more water

I know, I know you’ve heard this one before, but not much else will help improve your skin like water. We need water and lots of it to keep our bodies functioning well. The benefit to our skin when drinking water is increased hydration which helps the skin look younger and have a glow to it.

Wash your makeup brushes regularly and replace your sponges

Make a promise to yourself to wash your makeup brushes every two weeks. Weekly is ideal, but let’s be honest, not many of us are going to be that consistent. Also, if you’ve had any makeup sponges longer than 6 months throw them out. If you have any brushes that are losing hair, replace them.

Clean out your makeup collection

The beginning of a new year is a good time to declutter and reorganize your makeup. Check the expiration dates on your cosmetics and throw out any that are expired. Now is also a good time to buy new organizers.

That’s it, 6 beauty resolutions for you to make for 2018.

xo,

J
