Today’s post is not a recipe, but a list of suggestions on ways to make jarred spaghetti sauce 100 times better.

Jarred spaghetti sauce is a constant staple in my pantry. I love how quick and effortless it makes my life, but if I’m being honest I find the taste of jarred spaghetti sauce to be a bit bland. Definitely, not as good as spaghetti sauce made from scratch.

When I’m doctoring up my sauce I always start with a little bit of olive oil in a pan, then I add some chopped onion and garlic. Once the onion is tender then I will start adding ingredients. I’ve made a list of all my favorite ingredients to add to my sauce. I just pick and choose based on what I have on hand and what we are in the mood for.

Meats – kielbasa, ground beef, ground turkey, andouille sausage, pancetta, bacon, Italian sausage, chicken.

Veggies – green pepper, onion, garlic, mushrooms, zucchini, fresh tomatoes.

Spices – oregano, parsley, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, salt and pepper.

Liquids – White wine for cream sauces. Red wine for red sauces.

Cheeses – Parmesan, Romano, Mozzarella, Asiago.

These are just a few of my favorite ways to dress up jarred spaghetti sauce.
