Behind The Scenes Of A Food Blogger

Today’s post is a little bit different. I teamed up with some other bloggers to share the behind scenes of our lives as bloggers(see below for links to other posts). I think it’s easy to get caught up in the beautiful pictures of perfect homes and delicious food and think that it’s always like that. Trust me, it’s not. My house and kitchen look like an explosion has gone off by end of some days.

The other day I mentioned on my personal FB page that I thought once I was working from home that I would have a much cleaner house. Um…not so much. In fact, I think I’ve become a worse housekeeper because I spend all day cooking in the kitchen and on the computer and forget about cleaning up till end of day when I’m too tired to deal with it.

So…here is a day where I had made 3 recipes in my kitchen as well as a look at my “home office” i.e. the living room and what it looks like when I’m working and recipe planning. It doesn’t always look this way, but on this particular day it was beyond messy.

This is my family room and I use it as my home office. I actually have an office upstairs, but I never use it. I like being in the family room. I’m closer to the kitchen and the back door for my office mates, i.e. the cute dogs you see in this picture. They never leave my side. Plus, if I want to watch something while working I can.

On the left, is my side of the couch, Thunder has the other side, I keep my computer here, my recipe planning books and day planner. My other must have is my heated blanket. I’m always cold. The picture on the right is the view of the room when you come up the stairs.

Here is my kitchen. It doesn’t always look this way, but it did on this particular day. It’s hard to keep up with the dishes when you are making multiple dishes for the blog. I had dirty dishes every where. I don’t have a big kitchen at all, but it’s a rental so what do ya do. It gets crowded easily especially on days like this.

Below are links to my fellow bloggers who are also stepping out of their comfort zone and sharing their behind the scenes.

First, I LOVE your blog. Second, thank you for this particular post. I have always had an appreciation for the the work that goes into keeping a blog-especially a food blog. I am fascinated that you guys have lives other than cooking. I appreciate the work that goes into thinking up recipes, making them, photographing them, writing about them and then posting them everyday! I just wanted to tell you that I admire your hard work and love you put into your recipes. So thank you very much!

  2. Hi! I am hosting a Thank you, Monday in my blog. I would love to see your gratitude list there. Please

  3. It’s amazing how creative you can be when you have to work around a mess. I’d rather just keep pushing it off to the side and rearranging the mess instead of dealing with it. I’m glad I’m not alone in the messy department.

  4. My home office is *ahem* in dire need of a makeover. I have a Jr.SousPug who tries to knock the computer off whenever he sees it and demands I work in the living room, the counters are always a disaster between cooking, photographing and ingredients everywhere and my photo station – with no natural light in my house – makes it a challenge *LOL* So, seeing this post made me smile because I realized I am not alone. And for that, Julie – I thank you 🙂
